Happy Chinese New Year!
Year of the rat!
I wish my family, all my friends and their family, and everyone else a very wonderful, amazing, healthy, lucky, prosperous, happy Chinese New Year!
Some decorations. Some of the things I notice which is different than before (when we were young) during Chinese New Year:
- Ang Pao (Red packet), you feel not so excited anymore, even lost of the excitement, when you started to contribute money to the family, parents, etc.
- Reunion dinner becomes less merrier, the night getting quieter, because children has grown up, firecrackers has been banned (although most people still illegally lighting them), tradition is fading...
Some good fortune phrases decoration.
Anyway, lets the party begins!
That day while I was walking toward to pick up my car, after a tired working day, from far I saw a paper note lying on my windshield, secured by one of my wiper. "Sheessh, not one of of those flyers again! Huh? Or is it summon, but I park at a legal parking lot, how could I get summon?" Some of the thought flying around my head.Oh, it turned out to be a hand written note, it started with a date, and "Dear WNU XXXX owner, I accidentally broke your car wiper arm..." By the time I read this line, I was like WTF?! And only then saw my broken wiper lying on the windshield! "Please contact me at XXX XXX@XXX.com" "So that I can pay for the damages" I read on, and somehow felt unbelievable, most of my anger gone, but overwhelmed by "this is just not my day" kind of feeling...
The hand written note.
The wiper arm broken into 2 pieces
I SMSed him, a guy named Safrul, when I reached home. He called me back straight after received my SMS, he apologized, but that time there was no anger in me anymore, just thankful that there's still such honest people around. I suggested to check with the local Perodua Service Center for the wiper price, and he could do the same.
Look at the broken section, it was so thin! It becomes more vulnerable when it gets harden.
Frankly, I was skeptical that he would actually pay for the damage, probably just half of it. If he really did that, I wouldn't blame him, because if I was in his shoes, I would most likely run away and that's it, nothing happens! But he chose to be honest, accept the fact, and boldly face the consequences. It took us a while to get the actual price for the wiper arm, because the people in Perodua Service Center was not really helpful, most likely they are not familiar with the accessories price. They told Safrul the price is around RM40-50, but not sure about the actual amount. OK, sounds reasonable enough, so during weekends, I called again, but they said RM150+! This is outrageous! I contacted Safrul, told him that probably he could check again the price, cause what I got is a crazy amount! Finally he found out from Glenmarie's SC, that the price for only the arm (without the wiper) is RM51.70, and he could go and buy it then pass it to me after. I was really thankful that he had made so much hassles for all these, so I did not make any further follow up but completely trusted him.
Brand new wiper arm straight from Glenmarie Perodua Service Center!2 days ago, I finally got my wiper arm replacement! And met this honest young man, a chubby casual Malay fella, with a lively smile!
First, removed the old one. Safrul did tell me to let him know if any installation charges needed, but it shouldn't be that hard to install it myself, right?
Taadaaaaa! Brand new arm with the old wiper! Notice the bumper kinda wet? I tried it first before fully secure it with the screw. Works perfectly!
Safrul, you are the man, dude!
